How to

This page provides step-by-step instructions on how to use features in the Admin Dogu.

Please note that the Admin Dogu is currently only available with a german interface.

Creating a support package

A support package contains log files and other relevant information about the system. In a support case, a support package can help to locate the problem.

Important information

  • You need at least write access to the Admin Dogu to create a support package.

Procedure

  1. Open the Admin Dogu. You will find the Dogu under the name Administration in the Warp menu under the heading with the same name.
  2. In the Admin Dogu, you will find the menu bar of the Dogu at the top with the items "Logging", "Dogu Management" and "Maintenance". Click on "Maintenance".
  3. On the maintenance page, you will see the Debug Mode and Support Package sections. Click the Neues Support-Paket button in the Support Package section.
  4. Download the created support package by clicking on the support package name. Your just created support package will have the current date and time in its name. If you are shown a list of support packages, the topmost support package is the one you just created.
  5. Check the support package you downloaded: There may be sensitive data in the package that you want to delete before sending the package. You can read what information is in the support package in the documentation of the Dogu.
  6. Share the support package as a ZIP file if required.

For more information about the support package, see the documentation of the Dogu.

Using the debug mode

In a support case, it may be useful to collect more information about a problem. The debug mode is a feature of the Admin Dogu that can be used to reproduce errors.

The debug mode restarts all Dogus of the EcoSystem. Thereby the log level of the Dogus is increased to log level = DEBUG.

Important information

  • While debug mode is activated or deactivated, the system is unavailable for several minutes.
  • Enabling and disabling debug mode empties existing log files. Afterwards, you will no longer have access to the previously generated log files via the Admin Dogu.
  • You need at least write access to the Admin Dogu to enable debug mode.

Procedure

  1. Create a support package in advance if you have not already created a package to document the problem (see Creating a support package).
  2. Open the Admin Dogu. You can find the Admin Dogu under the name Administration in the warp-menu under the heading Administration.
  3. In the Admin Dogu you will find the menu bar of the Dogu at the top with the items "Logging", "Dogu Management" and "Maintenance". Click on "Maintenance".
  4. On the maintenance page, you will see the Debug Mode and Support Package sections. In the Debug Mode section, the default duration for the debug mode is 15 minutes. Click on the 15 Minuten area and select the desired duration if you want to increase the duration of the debug mode. Increasing the duration of the debug mode is useful if you might need longer than the 15 minutes to reproduce the error.
  5. Click the Aktivieren button in the Debug Mode section to start debug mode.
  6. A dialog opens informing you that the system will be unusable for several minutes when you activate debug mode. Check the checkbox and press the Aktivieren button.
  7. The debug mode will now be activated. This may take several minutes. During this time, you will be presented with a maintenance page after the browser reloads. Refresh the system after a few minutes until you see the login page.
  8. Log in to the system again.
  9. Reproduce the error.
  10. Create a support package (see Creating a support package).
  11. Disable the debug mode. If you do not need the debug mode anymore, it is useful to disable it manually. To do this, open the Admin Dogu and click on the Maintenance menu item.
  12. Then click on the button Debug-Modus deaktivieren.
  13. A dialog opens. Activate the checkbox and press Deaktivieren. The debug mode will now be deactivated. This may take several minutes. During this time you will be shown a maintenance page after reloading the browser.

For more information on debug mode, see the documentation of the Dogu.
